Rain Race Recap 2024 – not so wet, not so much to adjust

First of all, the B74 is a formidable car for racing in very wet conditions on astroturf. It is super stable with a tendency to push and from there, it can be set up to run just like on dry astro. This also means, that setup measures to tune the car to wet surface need to be applied with care. I learned this the hard way dring this years LRP season finale where i applied all of the learnings mentioned in my blog post from the 4 day rain race at Hellenthal.

In addition to these setup changes i built a rain specific car and added a couple of the hints from Michal Orlowski’s video.

This would have been a good choice for soggy conditions, where the track is drenched again and again in water with puddles all over the track like it was in Hellenthal. But this time it was just moist astro, wet from rain that fell during the night. As stated above, the B74 is very stable by default. To adjust for only some moist astro with clammy spots, wet tires and some minor setup changes are more than enough to make it drive just fine. This bit me hard on finals day this year, because i tried to adjust the rain car to the not as wet as anticipated conditions instead of running the car for dry astro with wet tires and some minor adjustments.
